BLAST Youth Ministry
BLAST is a weekly evangelistic and discipleship ministry of LBC. BLAST offers Bible-centred evangelism and discipleship education for children and teens aged 2 to 18 from within the church and in the local community.
The name BLAST is an acronym that stands for “Building Lives Around Sound Truth,” and is inspired by the guiding verse: “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a worker who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15, NASB).
The mission statement of BLAST is driven by a heartfelt desire to RISE.
-
- Reach children with the gospel and equip leaders.
- Instruct children in the necessary knowledge for them to know the Creator and Sustainer of the universe.
- Support parents in their responsibility and privilege to raise their children (Ephesians 6).
- Encourage growth and understanding in a compassionate environment.
BLAST is offered on a weekly basis and is largely based on the AWANA curriculum. The programme consists of:
Bible study groups. The aim is to reach kids and families with the gospel. The programme consists of pairing a small group discipleship handbook with extensive group teaching.
Memorisation. Children and teens learn how to memorise God’s Word, study the Bible, and apply it to their lives. They also learn about worldwide missions and the need to help others.
Awards. As children complete various stages in the BLAST programme, they earn awards.
Game time. Games are a big part of the weekly meeting. Four teams play the games on a circle, and the curriculum includes rules for hundreds of games, races, relays, activities, archery, and corn holes.
Snack time. Refreshments and a light meal are provided each week. The food generally consists of sandwiches or hot dogs or ham roll ups along with chips and fruit. For their safety, children should please inform our staff if they have any food allergies, but unfortunately, we will not be able to make accommodations for them.
